A Day in the Life of the Daisy House Teacher

I am feeling a little behind, as I am the only Daisy House girl that has yet to post my "day in the life." So, take a moment, get a cup of hot chocolate (add some schnapps if you feel like it!) and join in the day of this High School Sophomore English teacher.

My day begins anywhere from 6 am to 6:45 am when I reluctantly get out of bed. I get ready for school - choosing that oh so non-traditional non-jumper teacher outfit (at least I try!:). LMM - I told my mother that I would not where a jumper until I had been teaching for at least 5 years, even if it was cute!

Back to the day. I usually get to work around 7:30 and head into my day, prepping my classroom, eating my breakfast, writing assignments on the board and "planning." I have first hour plan. This seems dumb to me a lot of days. Why do I need a break before I have begun? But, it does give me a chance to wake up (and on occasion run to QT to get some cappuchino). Then my day starts, with 6 consecutive classes of Lisa repeating the exact same thing. You would think this would get boring. Sometimes it does. But, today alone, I had my whole wedding planned out for me. I have a best man, maid of honor, ring bearer, flower girl (who happens to be a 10th grade male), a personal wedding dress designer, a cake baker . . . pretty much everything but the groom! It was crazy, let me tell you!

Between sixth and seventh hour, I usually take a chocolate break and stash my chocolate hoard (which happens to be miniture snickers at the moment! yummm!!). Anything to settle the craziness of my sixth hour crazy girl and get ready for the class of 11 boys and a girl for 7th hour.

By the end of the day, I am ready to come home and chill with Kimmy when she is awake or work on homework (yes, teachers have it too), or catch up on the American Idol episode we taped the night before. Then, in the evening, I usually make it to mass and do whatever it is we do on the corresponding weekday. (Ah for Monday, our night at home!).

Now that you are all bored with my post, I will go to bed, as I would at 11 o'clock after saying for the past hour and a half that I need to start going to bed early!!

And that is a day in the life of Ms. Lisa (or Momalino as I have been fondly dubbed by a few of my students!)
